Muslims attack Hindus on Bakri Eid in Pakur (Jharkhand)
Attack occurred after Hindus accused Muslims of cow slaughter
Pakur (Jharkhand) – Muslims attacked Hindus in Pakur on Bakri Eid after villagers accused them of cow slaughter. They vandalised Hindu homes and even detonated homemade bombs. According to the villagers, the violence was carried out by Muslims from villages near the Bengal border adjacent to Jharkhand.
The conflict began when a cow was being slaughtered on land in the Gopinathpur area on Bakri Eid. The owner of the land objected to it, which enraged the Muslims and they attacked the Hindus by calling the Muslims from the villages in the neighbouring State of Bengal. They pelted stones at the Hindus, detonated homemade bombs, and even vandalised some homes. Upon learning of the incident, Police from both Bengal and Jharkhand reached the spot and brought the situation under control. A heavy Police force has been deployed here.
Authorities described the incident as a dispute between two villages, one in Jharkhand and the other in Bengal, separated by a canal.
Intruders are grabbing tribal land and raping women – BJP
Reacting to the incident, Babulal Marandi, the BJP State President of Jharkhand, said, “Law and order in the State has deteriorated. The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Government is not taking any action against the intruders. There is a reign of terror by these intruders in the area. They are grabbing tribal land and raping women, asserting rights over the local people’s property. Despite all this, the Government remains silent.”
