Mahayuti allots Rs 10 crore to fulfil Congress’ promise of strengthening the Waqf Board

Mumbai – In 2007, the then Congress Government had promised to extend grants to the Waqf Board in Maharashtra. The present Mahayuti Government has provided Rs 10 crore to strengthen the Waqf Board and fulfil that promise. Out of these, Rs 2 crore have been approved by the Mahayuti Government on 10thJune 2024.

In 2007, the Congress Government at the Centre formed a joint parliamentary committee for the Waqf lands. In June 2007, the committee members visited Maharashtra to inspect the Maharashtra State Waqf Board’s activities and properties. The then State Congress Government had promised to extend a grant to the Waqf Board at that time. The Congress Government never extended this grant though; still, the Mahayuti Government is now extending this grant.
