Chinese spacecraft that landed on the moon begins return journey
Spacecraft to bring 2 kg of lunar soil sample
Beijing (China) – China’s ‘Chang’e 3’ spacecraft, which successfully landed on the moon’s dark side, is now returning. According to the plan, this craft will land in the desert of Mongolia on 25th June. After landing on the moon, the spacecraft collected an estimated 2 kg of lunar soil and will bring it along. To collect this soil, the vehicle was equipped with mechanical arms to dig and then lift the rubble.
The soil brought from the moon will be analysed. Through this, scientists can gain more information about the formation and evolution of the Moon, Earth, and the Solar System.
