Rejected claims of foreign interference in the elections
Washington (US) – The results of the Lok Sabha elections are out and once again the country will have a BJP-led Government. The US lauded India for successfully conducting the elections up to the conclusion. The State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller ruled out any possibility of foreign interference in the elections.
Matthew Miller said, on behalf of the US, we congratulate the Government of India and the voters who participated in the elections and concluded it successfully. We are eager to see the results.
When asked about the Lok Sabha elections, he said, “I shall not comment on the winners or losers. Whatever we witnessed in the 6 weeks was the greatest exercise in the history of democracy.”
He denied the reports regarding the interference of the US and Western Countries in the elections, and said, “We are always clear regarding our views. We share our views with the Foreign Governments in private meetings. If a matter is very serious, we talk about our concern openly. I followed the same rule. We wish to retain partnership with India permanently.”
