1. In 2019, the Telugu Desam Party was defeated by the Y.S.R. Congress. This time, the TDP formed an alliance with Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party and the BJP, which benefitted TDP.
2. The National Democratic Alliance had announced a pension of Rs 1,500 per month for women aged 19 to 59, promised 2 million jobs, and an unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month.
From prison to the Chief Minister’s office
Chandrababu Naidu was imprisoned in connection with a corporate scandal but was released on bail. He was arrested in 2023 and spent two months in prison. The TDP accused the ruling Y.S.R. Congress party of vendetta politics. Upon his release, Naidu vowed to return to power. He had previously exited the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance but rejoined it upon his release, a decision that benefitted him.
