Muslim Students attack Hindu students over ‘Jai Shriram’ chant

Bidar (Karnataka) – On 29th May, during a rehearsal for a play at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Muslim students attacked Hindu students following chants of ‘Jai Shriram.’ Two students, Nataraj and Veerendra, were injured in the incident. The rehearsal was for a performance scheduled for 31st May, which was subsequently cancelled due to the altercation.

The conflict erupted when Muslim students objected to the ‘Jai Shriram’ chant, leading to a physical altercation with Hindu students. Police arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control after being informed of the incident. A video of the incident has also been circulated.
Superintendent of Police Channabasavanna SL stated that a case has been registered against 17 Muslim students and one unidentified person based on a complaint from Nataraj. Complaints have also been filed from the Muslim students’ side.
