Shri Shivapratishthan Yuva Hindustan’s activists vandalise 3 unauthorised cafes in Sangli, Maharashtra

Sangli, Maharashtra 17th May – On 17th May 2024, three Cafes in the Vishrambag area were vandalised by ‘Shri Shivapratishthan Yuva Hindustan (SSYH)’ activists at about 11.30 a.m. since there were allegations that these cafes were engaged in indecent activities. The activists pelted stones at the Cafes and damaged the furniture and other materials. Vishrambag Police have taken 15 SSYH activists into custody. ‘Sunshine’, ‘Danisco’ and one more Café have been vandalised.
The owners of other cafes in the city are afraid after the sudden attack which created tension in the area for some time. SSYH Founder President Nitin Chougule led the agitations. For many years, these Cafes in the Vishrambag area have been involved in indecent offensive activities. SSYH had met and submitted several memoranda to the Municipal Corporation and Police in this regard, demanding action against the unauthorised Cafes but they conveniently ignored the memoranda; therefore, SSYH activists vandalised the unauthorised Cafes. They raised slogans of ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ki Jai’, ‘Har Har Mahadev’, etc during the attack.
Agitations will be staged all over Maharashtra if action is not taken against unauthorised Cafes !
Mr Nitin Chougule said while speaking to the reporters in this context, “Indecent activities are going on in unauthorised Cafes in many districts in the State. So far, I have corresponded with the Government and action has been taken by the State Administration at Nashik, Dhule, Buldhana, Pune and Kolhapur; but despite submitting several memoranda over a period, no action was taken either by the Sangli administration or the Police. SSYH will, therefore, take action against unauthorised Cafes if the Government fails to do so.” He also warned of staging agitations all over the State. He added that he would meet the Chief Minister and Dy Chief Minister to discuss action required against unauthorised Cafes. He also informed that on 28th April 2024, a minor girl was raped after drugging her. The aggrieved girl complained to the Police, but Police didn’t take any action. A case has been filed against the accused before two days. Cafes are carrying on unscrupulous business, and exploiting young girls. Action is also demanded against the Café owners.
Method of carrying on unscrupulous activities in Cafes
An SSYH activist exposed the indecent activities in an unauthorised Café with the help of a couple. On inquiry about coffee, a worker from the Café said coffee was not available at the Café but informed the couple about a room available in the Café to carry on indecent activities with the charges of Rs. 300/- per hour. There are small rooms in the Café for couples. It may be mentioned that the Vishrambag Police Station is a stone’s throw from this Café. SSYH activists alleged that Police were not taking any action though they were aware of the indecent activities going on in the Café.
Action will be taken against unauthorised Cafes ! – Municipal Commissioner
Mr Nitin Chougule phoned Municipal Commissioner Shubham Gupta to inform him about the incident. Mr Gupta promised to take action against the unauthorised Cafes and again discuss the matter with Mr Chougule on 20th May 2024.
