This unfortunate news is heard every third day, “ said Syed Mustafa Kamal, MP of Pakistan’s party ‘Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan’, criticising the system in Pakistan’s Parliament. A video of his statement has gone viral on social media.

Syed Mustafa Kamal further stated,

1. Karachi hosts two of Pakistan’s major ports, serving as a strategic hub for travel to Central Asia and Afghanistan. Despite generating 68% of Pakistan’s revenue, Karachi has been unable to provide clean water for the past 15 years. The city’s water supply is frequently stolen by the water mafia, who then resell it to residents at exorbitant prices.

2. In Pakistan, 26.2 million children do not attend school, a number exceeding the total population of 70 countries. This large number of illiterate children poses a significant threat to Pakistan’s economic progress. In Sindh province alone, there are 48,000 schools on paper, but 11,000 of these do not actually exist. As a result, seven million children in Sindh are not receiving any education.

22.8 million children out of school in Pakistan

According to the United Nations, Pakistan has the second-highest number of out-of-school children in the world. Nearly 22.8 million children between 5 to 16 years of age are out of school in Pakistan. This figure is 44 % of Pakistan’s population.
