SIT conducts raid at the residence of H D Revanna
Case of sexual abuse of around 3,000 women in Karnataka
Bengaluru (Karnataka) – The special investigation team (SIT) probing the case of sexual abuse of young women raided the residence of Janata Dal’s (Secular) H D Revanna. Earlier on 3rdMay, former minister and MLA Revanna, son of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was arrested from his residence. His son and MP Prajwal, who is accused of making 3 lakh obscene videos of women, is currently absconding, and believed to be in Germany. Interpol has issued a ‘Blue Corner Notice’ against him, a measure taken internationally to obtain information about the identity or whereabouts of a missing person.

1. On 3rdMay, a woman who was kidnapped and held captive at Revanna’s farmhouse was rescued. Investigations are ongoing, and her sister expressed a strong desire for Prajwal to face severe punishment, ensuring he never holds his head high again. She emphasised the need for accountability to prevent future offenses.
2. The Special Investigation Team handling the sexual abuse case has established a helpline number, 63609 38947, for victims. They reassure victims that there is no need to visit the team’s office as they will proactively reach out to them.
3. The team issued a warning to the public regarding the dissemination of videos involving Revanna and the victimised women on social media. They urged against forwarding such content, emphasising that legal action will be taken against those who do so.
How did the case come to light?
On 28thApril, an elderly housewife filed a sexual harassment complaint against Prajwal. Subsequently, over 2,900 videos allegedly depicting Prajwal filming women pleading for help surfaced. Prajwal was suspended from the Janata Dal (Secular) on 30thApril considering these accusations.
