181 academicians, including VCs, demand legal action against Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi had raised questions about the appointment of Vice-Chancellors (VC) in India

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi – Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the appointments of Vice- Chancellors (VCs) in India are done on the basis of their affiliation with the RSS and not based on their academic qualifications. VCs and academic leaders from across the country have expressed their opposition to these charges. 181 academicians, including VCs have written an open letter to Rahul Gandhi opposing his charges. They have accused Rahul Gandhi of spreading lies about the process of appointment of the VCs in the universities. They have also demanded that legal action be taken against him.

The letter emphasised that, in order to select the VC, a stringent, transparent, and rigorous procedure is undertaken. The process focuses on merit, academic excellence, and loyalty. It emphasised that the candidates are selected based on their academic and administrative abilities, with the goal of advancing the status of the universities.

Editorial Perspective

It is not wrong to say that, due to holding grudge against the RSS, Rahul Gandhi is looking at everything with an anti-RSS perspective.
