Goa has a uniform civil law and there is no problem !
New Delhi – Amid the debate over the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that UCC is already in place in Goa and everyone is living happily there. To those who raise their voices against the Uniform Civil Code, I say, just look at Goa. Ever since the country became independent, it has had a uniform civil law. Goa has the largest number of minorities. Still there are no problems in Goa.

Goa is developing rapidly. Therefore, all the states today feel that if there is happiness in Goa due to Uniform Civil Code, then why not in our state ? That is why we are committed to bring the Uniform Civil Code, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an interview to the news channel ‘TV9’.
About the Uniform Civil Code, Prime Minister Narendra Modi added –
1. Even the Indian Constitution has mentioned the implementation of UCC
It is written in the Constitution that Uniform Civil Code should be applied; but this law has not been implemented yet. So those who have not implemented this law should be questioned. If the country is to be run, should the country have a Uniform Civil Code or not ?
2. Why didn’t the previous governments make the law ?
PM Modi said,” I am surprised why the Indian media asked this question after 75 years. Every PM and government since Independence should have been asked this question. When it is mentioned in the Constitution, why has this not been implemented ?”
3. Ask the Congress for the answer
The Supreme Court has reiterated 2,500 times that the Government should take steps to have a Uniform Civil Code; so you should ask the Congress for an answer in this regard.
4. After coming to power, the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented
“It is our commitment and it is not our political ideology, it is our action on the Constitution. The Constitution is saying about UCC. Supreme Court is saying about UCC. We are only trying to implement what is mentioned in our Constitution, so we are asking for people’s blessings. “PM Modi added. BJP has promised in its election manifesto to implement UCC in the whole country.
