Headmistress rejects order to resign from the post for supporting Hamas
Parveen Sheikh takes a stance against the school management
Mumbai – Parveen Shaikh, Headmistress of Somaiya School, had liked and commented on a post on ‘X’ displaying sympathy for Hamas in the Hamas-Israel conflict. For this reason, the school management had asked her to resign; but she has refused to do so. She said, “I am being pressured to resign. I live in democratic India and I have freedom of speech. (Freedom of speech does not mean taking sides of the terrorists – Editor). Somayya School has no policy against public comment on political topics. In a meeting held in March, employees were told they were allowed to express their views on social media. I gave 100% effort for the development of this school.”
