Anti-India allegation of US newspaper ‘Washington Post’

Washington – The US newspaper ‘Washington Post’ has made a baseless accusation that the Indian intelligence agency ‘RAW’ is behind the conspiracy to kill Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
In one of its reports, the Washington Post said that Vikram Yadav, a RAW officer, was involved in the attempt to kill Pannun. It also claimed that Vikram Yadav had included Pannun in his list of primary targets and had selected a squad of shooters to assassinate him. The report, citing unnamed former US officials and Indian security officials, claimed that Yadav had passed on Pannun’s details, including his address in New York, to the killers.

The report published by ‘The Washington Post’ on a serious matter is unwarranted and unsubstantiated. There is an ongoing investigation of the high-level committee set up by the Government of India to look into the security concerns shared by the US Government on networks of organised criminals, terrorists and others. Speculative and irresponsible comments on it are not helpful.

What is the matter ?

Late last year, the US had accused Indian officials of involvement in a conspiracy to kill Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a US citizen. This point was also presented to India. The government of India has constituted a high-level committee to investigate this.
